About Dr. Dovan
Thomas Dovan, MD, specializes in orthopedic surgery of the hand and upper extremity. Dr. Dovan sees patients at Elite Sports Medicine + Orthopedics’s Midtown and Green Hills locations in Nashville and Cool Springs office in Franklin, Tennessee.
Dr. Dovan attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University and his fellowship in surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder at the prestigious Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Dovan is currently a team physician for Lipscomb University, Belmont University, and Trevecca Nazarene University. He has also consulted in the care of many professional athletes, including football and hockey players, serving as a professional football team doctor from 2007-2018.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and has received his Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Dovan’s specialties include sports-related injuries, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, nerve compression syndrome, arthritis, tendon and nerve injuries, trigger fingers, ganglion cysts, work-related injuries, and fractures of the hand, wrist, and elbow.
He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2014-2024.
